Leggett-Garg tests for macrorealism: Interference experiments and the simple harmonic oscillator

چکیده

Leggett-Garg (LG) tests for macrorealism were originally designed to explore quantum coherence on the macroscopic scale. Interference experiments and systems modeled by harmonic oscillators provide useful examples of situations in which macroscopicity has been approached experimentally are readily turned into LG a single dichotomic variable $Q$. Applying this approach double-slit experiment noninvasive measurement at slits is included, we exhibit violations. We find that these violations always accompanied destructive interference. The converse not true general there nontrivial regimes interference but two-time inequalities satisfied, implies it fact often possible assign (indirectly determined) probabilities interferometer paths. Similar features have observed recent work involving analysis Mach-Zehnder compare with those results. extend triple-slit again finding violations, also some surprising relationships between NSIT conditions do exist variables. For simple oscillator, an analytically tractable example showing violation gaussian initial state, echoing simpler form results Bose et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 210402 (2018)].

Leggett-Garg Inequalities for Quantum Fluctuating Work

The Leggett-Garg inequalities serve to test whether or not quantum correlations in time can be explained within a classical macrorealistic framework. We apply this test to thermodynamics and derive a set of Leggett-Garg inequalities for the statistics of fluctuating work done on a quantum system unitarily driven in time. It is shown that these inequalities can be violated in a driven two-level ...

Leggett-Garg Inequalities for Squeezed States

Temporal Bell inequalities, or Leggett-Garg Inequalities (LGI), are studied for continuous-variable systems placed in a squeezed state. The importance of those systems lies in their broad applicability which allows the description of many different physical settings in various branches of physics, ranging from cosmology to condensed matter physics and from optics to quantum information theory. ...

Leggett-Garg inequality in electron interferometers

We consider the violation of the Leggett-Garg inequality in electronic Mach-Zehnder inteferometers. This setup has two distinct advantages over earlier quantum-transport proposals: Firstly, the required correlation functions can be obtained without time-resolved measurements. Secondly, the geometry of an interferometer allows one to construct the correlation functions from ideal negative measur...

Experimental violation of the Leggett-Garg inequality under decoherence

Despite the great success of quantum mechanics, questions regarding its application still exist and the boundary between quantum and classical mechanics remains unclear. Based on the philosophical assumptions of macrorealism and noninvasive measurability, Leggett and Garg devised a series of inequalities (LG inequalities) involving a single system with a set of measurements at different times. ...

Berry phase in the simple harmonic oscillator

Berry phase of simple harmonic oscillator is considered in a general representation. It is shown that, Berry phase which depends on the choice of representation can be defined under evolution of the half of period of the classical motions, as well as under evolution of the period. The Berry phases do not depend on the mass or angular frequency of the oscillator. The driven harmonic oscillator i...
